Iain joined North in 2005 and is responsible for our Asia Pacific Membership particularly in Japan, China, Hong Kong and Korea and overseeing the claims handlers working in these areas.

Current Role
Iain is Director (Claims) with responsibility for our Asia Pacific Members and handles admiralty, pollution, cargo and hull & machinery claims.

External Roles
Iain has been involved in a number of BIMCO sub-committees reviewing issues such as verified gross mass and arrest clauses.

Background
Iain studied law at Northumbria University prior to being admitted as a solicitor in 1999. Prior to joining North in 2005, Iain worked as a solicitor for the international law firm Eversheds, where he handled a wide range of maritime matters including admiralty, P&I and FD&D related work. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Iain spent eleven years as a police officer and prior to that five years at sea as a deck officer serving on container ships, bulk carriers and oil tankers.
