Stowaways – New Guidance Issued by The Republic of the Marshall Islands.
The Republic of the Marshall Islands has issued a Marine Guidance No. 7-41-5 which addresses the issue of preventing stowaways gaining access to ships and the potential risks involved.
Despite the implementation of the ISPS Code, preventing stowaways from gaining access to ships and the correct management of stowaways once they have been discovered can be challenging. This is particularly the case in a number of West African and South African ports.
