Singapore: Maritime Port Authority Issues Circular on Piracy and Armed Robbery Against Ships
On 20 August the MPA Singapore issued shipping circular No 19 of 2015 to draw the attention of the shipping community to the IMO guidance MSC.1/Circ 1334 on preventing and suppressing acts of piracy and armed robbery against ships.
Members with ships operating in waters which are prone to acts of piracy or armed robbery attacks are recommended to increase the security level on board.
MSC.1/Circ 1334 comprehensively details the measures that are to be taken in order to reduce the potential of piracy on the high seas and armed robbery against ships whilst at anchor or underway through a state’s territorial waters.
