IMO Guidance on the Carriage of Bauxite
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has issued a circular warning of the possible dangers of liquefaction of bauxite. The circular follows the investigation into the loss of the bulk carrier Bulk Jupiter, which was carrying about 46,000 tonnes of bauxite when it sank rapidly with the loss of 18 lives in January 2015.
The circular, CCC.1/Circ.2, entitled Carriage of Bauxite That May Liquefy can be read here.
