Weather and road infrastructure related difficulties have resulted in delays in the transportation of soya beans from producing areas to ports.
A large number of ships are delayed at anchor off Paranaguá and Santos whilst they wait for cargo and berthing orders. Local sources have indicated that delays at Paranaguá can be between 15 – 20 days and delays at the port of Santos are estimated to be anything up to 30 days.
Members with vessels fixed to load soya beans at Brazilian ports should seek the most up to date information from local ship’s agent.
The Club has experienced a number of large claims due to inherent problems with soya beans related to moisture content. Members fixed to load soya beans in Brazilian ports should exercise a high level of vigilance when loading.
