North Opens Branch Office in Japan

CIRCULATED TO ALL MEMBERS, BROKERS AND DIRECTORS 

We are pleased to announce that on 11 January 2012, the Japanese Government granted North a business license, authorising the establishment of our branch office in Tokyo. The office is expected to be in operation in the first quarter of 2012. 

North commenced business relationships with Japanese and Japan related shipowners in 2006 and the establishment of the branch office demonstrates our commitment to providing high levels of service to our Members in the region.

Initially offering claims support and closer liaison with our Japanese Members and potential Members, our Tokyo office will be staffed in the first instance by:

• Mr. Kunio Fukumoto – General Manager, Marketing
• Mr. Masaki Ida – Deputy General Manager, Marketing and Claims
• Mr. Malcolm Allinson – Deputy General Manager, Claims
• Mr. Tatsuya Nagai – Senior Executive (Accounting and Administration)

Fukumoto san, an experienced underwriting manager in various companies (but principally with Mitsui Sumitomo) for over 30 years, will head the office. Ida san and Malcolm Allinson will primarily be responsible for claims handling and risk management/loss prevention initiatives.  Nagai san will be responsible for the general administration of the office.
