Enhanced Pre-Employment Medicals, Odessa

The following should be of interest to any department involved with crew and manning issues.

Following the success of our Enhanced Pre-employment Medical Scheme in the Philippines, the Association is now to afford a similar service to Members who employ crew out of Odessa in the Ukraine where standards for medical testing can be extremely basic.

A significant number of companies already test to enhanced standards leaving those seamen, unfortunate enough not to meet those standards, to filter through the system and they may therefore find employment with shipowners who do not participate in enhanced testing.

Building on our experience in the Philippines, we can now recommend to Members three clinics in Odessa which we have audited and they will work to fixed standards set by our independent consultants; Medical Rescue International, on a fixed price basis.

We are pleased to attach the guidelines in relation to the Enhanced Pre-employment Scheme in Odessa together with the ‘model’ examinations.
