New Guidelines on Cyber Security Published *Update*

The third edition of the industry cyber risk management guidelines, Guidelines on Cyber Security Onboard Ships has been published.

These revised guidelines address the requirements to incorporate cyber risks in a vessel’s safety management system (SMS), taking into consideration the increased connectivity of vessels and their equipment.

The following organisations produced the third edition: BIMCO, InterManager, International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners (INTERCARGO), International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO), International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI), Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and World Shipping Council (WSC).

BIMCO, together with other shipping organisations (CLIA, ICS, INTERCARGO and INTERTANKO), has published a set of guidelines providing guidance to shipowners and operators on how to assess their operations and put in place the necessary procedures and actions to maintain the security of cyber systems onboard their ships.
