Underwriting Assistant (Australia)

Role purpose
To ensure that all underwriting enquiries are handled promptly and efficiently in conjunction with pre-determined service levels and procedure manuals. Provide administrative support to the national underwriting process and running of the Melbourne head office of the Australia branch.
What will you be doing?
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing end to end assistance with the preparation of policy documentation that accurately reflects the expectations of the intermediary, insurers and reinsurers
- Creating and maintaining accurate underwriting and vessel files using the Corporate Information System (CIS) database and Document Management System (DMS)
- Assisting with processing, checking and file management of new business, renewals, mid-term cancellations and endorsements.
- Processing customer payments online, issue debit and credit notes including review against policy documentation and broker closings and assist in preparation of amendments to policy records.
- Providing efficient, professional and courteous engagement with clients and broker partners
- Coordinating commissioning of Condition & Valuation reports and attend to surveyor follow ups.
- Maintaining the Condition & Valuation database to ensure up to date information is available to underwriters and the branch manager.
- Preparing and collating analytical reports and recommendations for Management monthly/quarterly or as agreed from time to time.
- Ensuring all systems and business administration processes are attended to with timeliness and accuracy
- Coordinating meeting arrangements and small events as required
Ad Hoc Duties
Your key accountabilities will include such other duties and tasks are as allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.
About you
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- Excellent approach to customer service
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Worksite.
- IT Literate with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
- Efficient & effective administration skills, demonstrating an attention to detail concerning work produced.
- Keeping up to date with best practice to ensure continuous improvement in working practices.
- Obtain and retain qualifications as required.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- Financial Service experience
- ANZIIF Tier 2 certified
