The next Residential Training Course will be held in June 2018.
The course is offered as two options:
Delegates on option 1 arrive on a Friday and the first two days are not only aimed at delegates who are new to the industry and may require some building blocks before option 2 begins on Monday but also for delegates who may wish to refresh their knowledge of how ships and the shipping industry operate.
The topics covered give a broad overview of the industry, ship types, cargoes, a ship’s crew and the complex legislation that binds shipping and global trade together. The knowledge gained from day one can then be applied in a more physical manner as delegates get the opportunity to tour a local port facility and witness the infrastructure in place to support trade. In addition, a guided tour of a vessel provides insight into exactly how a vessel operates and how it handles cargo.
An evening on the river allows delegates the chance to relax. This mini cruise shows the world famous river Tyne from a very different perspective as delegates enjoy a journey along the river to the heart of Newcastle Quayside. The journey takes in some very different scenery, beginning with the industrial port area where delegates get a close up view of a vibrant facility. As the journey progresses delegates will see what was once the heart of Tyneside ship building and finally disembarking in sight of the iconic Tyne Bridge on the trendy Newcastle Quayside.
On the Sunday, new arrivals will be joined at Lumley Castle by delegates from option 1 for welcome drinks and dinner hosted by North.
There is a huge amount to be covered in the week but the course leaders and in-house experts will be on hand to guide you through the topics and ensure you get the most from this intensive course.
Topics covered include:
- Day 1 - An Introduction to P&I Insurance
- Day 2 - Collision and Pollution
- Day 3 - People Claims - The Human Element
- Day 4 - Cargo Day
- Day 5 - The Finale
