North’s correspondents – Budd – have reported that although the Myanmar’s ports remain open, the civil unrest and protests are causing delays for vessels.

Due to sanctions imposed by the EU, several European carriers are no longer trading to the region.

4 February 2021

North’s correspondents in Myanmar – Spica Services have reported that overall, all ports and other related services and now operating as normal again.

International airports and Myanmar International Airlines have also reported that all scheduled flights will resume from 4 February 2021.

1 February 2021

North’s correspondents in Myanmar – Spica Services have reported that after the Myanmar military taking control of the country, port and customs facilities continue to operate despite a temporary stop in custom’s operations in the early hours of this morning.

At this time there are no reported issues with the discharging of cargo, however there may be delays on loading due to some warehouses being reportedly seized and closed although there is no official information on these closures at this time.

Airports are closed at this time and all domestic and international flights are cancelled for the foreseeable future affecting any crew changes for Myanmar crews.

North will continue to monitor the situation and its effects on shipping.
