当下集装箱物流链的困境使得进出口运营商不得不另行寻找渠道运输集装箱货物，其中就有改用散货船来承运集装箱。

在协会看来，非专门为集装箱运输所设计的船舶来承运集装箱货物，将会对运输风险带来实质性的改变。
已经或正在打算从事此类运输的会员，须尽快于协会的承保人员沟通，以减少可能产生的对承保的影响。
会员还须与船旗国主管当局和船级社沟通，听取其意见并且获批所需文件。协会承保是以获得船旗国和船级社批准为前提的。
此外，对于散货船承载集装箱的技术方面的准备，会员必须委托一位协会认可的有相关资质的专家进行指导和协助，费用由会员自行承担。这样有助于会员确保落实船旗国和船级社的相关规定。
对于有此类意向的会员，协会的承保、P&I、FDD以及防损等各部门将随时提供各类支持和协助。
