New Website & Smartphone App

North is pleased to announce a comprehensive redevelopment of its website www.nepia.com, designed to ensure full compatibility with desktop and portable devices and provide significantly improved access to key data. The Club has also launched an updated version of its smartphone application or ‘app’, which provides a simpler, quicker way to access its online databases of staff, correspondents, entered vessels and blue cards.

One of the new prominent features of the website is the Maritime Threats and Incidents Picture. We have teamed up with specialist maritime intelligence, investigation and crisis management company Gray Page to provide a unique online intelligence picture of maritime threats and incidents. Based on an interactive Google map platform, the threats picture identifies current incidents, enduring risks and danger areas. It provides a unique combination of expert analysis and advice that is freely accessible, localised and focuses on both the commercial risks and physical security threats to shipping.

Commercial risks highlighted and analysed include fraud, sanctions, corruption and trafficking, while physical threats to ships and seafarers include piracy, kidnap for ransom, armed robbery and hijack for cargo theft.  The danger areas are based on the current UK Joint War Committee listed areas for war, piracy, terrorism and other hull perils.

Smartphone App: North P&I Club Contacts and Correspondents

North’s new smartphone app includes the following features:

• Our People – North’s staff can be filtered by Department, Management, P&I Claims Speciality, Membership Area and Office Location.

• Correspondents – Users can use the available country / port filters to search for a correspondent, or they can view the correspondent nearest to them though their GPS. Users can also filter by the USA based crew injury and illness First Call ports.

• Blue Cards / Vessel Searches – Users can now search for entered vessels and/or blue card information.

• Favourites – Staff and correspondents can be selected as ‘Favourites’, which automatically saves the contact in the ‘Favourite’ section.

Our App North P&I Club Contacts and Correspondents is now available to download on the following operating systems:

• Apple IOS

• Blackberry (7 and 10)

• Android • Windows

A guide to the App is attached for your reference (using IOS iPhone as an example).

The new website, maritime threats and incidents picture and smartphone app are all part of our continuing drive to make North’s information and services more accessible to Members and business partners worldwide.
