ICC/IMB: 2016 Annual Piracy Report Published
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Maritime Bureau’s (IMB) annual piracy report reveals that more crew were kidnapped at sea in 2016 than in any of the previous 10 years.
In its 2016 report, the IMB recorded a threefold increase of kidnappings on the previous year’s numbers, kidnapping 62 people for ransom in 15 separate incidents.

The IMB strongly urges shipmasters and owners to report all actual, attempted and suspected piracy and armed robbery incidents to the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre.
