Tony Allen
Manager
Tony is a qualified solicitor who worked for 10 years in private practice before joining North of England's P&I Department. He now manages the Club's Greek office and deals with all aspects of P&I Claims.
Michael joined the Association in January
2000 having spent two and a half years with the South African law firm
Shepstone & Wylie. As well as
being admitted as an Attorney in South Africa,
Michael is also admitted as a Solicitor in
England and Wales.
Claire joined the Association in 2006 from local maritime lawyers Rayfield Mills. She is a solicitor and has an LLB (Honours) degree. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Claire was a police officer for five years. Claire is primarily engaged in cargo claims.
Iain spent sixteen years at sea, predominantly
on dry bulk tonnage. He holds a British Master
Mariner's Certificate and has sailed as Master
on bulk carriers. On leaving sea, Iain joined
Clyde & Co in London where he was involved
in "dry work". He began work in
the Association's Claims Department in July
1995 and primarily handles admiralty, pollution and cargo claims. He recently completed
an LL.B (Honours) at the University of Northumbria.
Annekatrin joined the Association in 2006 after working for the Danish liner shipping company of Maersk Sealand in Hamburg. She graduated from the Hamburg School of Shipping and Transportation with a degree in chartering and shipping. Before she started her work with the Association, she gained experience of life at sea, while sailing for a half year on a dry bulk cargo ship. Annekatrin is a native of Germany and primarily concerned with cargo claims.
Andrew joined the Association in 1986. He
studied the Hague Rules and International
Trade while gaining an LL.B (Honours) degree
in Law. He is primarily concerned with cargo
claims.
Neil joined Newcastle P&I Association
in 1995. He worked for eighteen years with
Commercial Union Assurance where he qualified
as an ACII.
He primarily handles cargo claims.
Adrian, a solicitor, joined the Association in 1999 from maritime lawyers Rayfield Mills having previously worked in Eversheds' shipping department. He has broad experience in all aspects of shipping and marine insurance litigation in the English High Court and London Arbitration and also in providing supervision, advice and opinions for use in overseas proceedings. He has an LL.B (Honours) degree and is primarily concerned with cargo, admiralty and pollution claims. He is also involved in overseeing the claims of charterer members. Adrian became a manager in July 2003.
Rune Dybedal
Attorney, FD&D Department
Senior Executive (Claims)
Rune is a qualified Norwegian Attorney who joined the FD&D Department in January 2000 after spending more than seven years with the claims department of the Gard P&I Club in Norway. Rune graduated from the University of Oslo in 1990 and he holds a further degree from the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law. Rune is also a member of the P&I Claims Department with particular interest in dry cargo claims.
Phillip joined the Association in 2006. Before joining, Phillip worked as an insurance broker for Willis Limited (Edinburgh). Phillip has a BA (Hons) degree in Business with Information Management and has recently achieved his ACII qualification. Phillip is primarily concerned with cargo claims.
Julie has over eleven years experience of P&I claims after joining Newcastle P&I in 1994, gaining an LL.B (Honours) Law degree from Northumbria University in 2003. Her main responsibilities are cargo and personal injury claims.
Tricia joined the Association in August 1992 after working for a firm of Newcastle solicitors. She gained an LL.B (Honours) degree in law at Lancaster University and is primarily concerned with cargo claims.
Iain is a qualified solicitor (6 years PQE)
having recently joined the Association from Eversheds, where he was an Associate in the Shipping and International Trade Department specialising in a wide range of maritime matters including admiralty, P&I and FD&D related work. Prior to qualifying as a lawyer Iain spent 11 years as a police officer where he reached the rank of Detective Sergeant and prior to that spent five years at sea as a deck officer serving on container ships, bulk carriers and oil tankers.
Brian joined the Association in September 2005. He holds an STCW OOW Certificate of Competency and spent four years with BP Shipping on oil tankers. Since leaving the sea in 2002, he has gained a BSc (Hons) Marine Operations from Northumbria University and an MSc Marine Transport with Management from Newcastle University. During his time at university he also gained some experience on ferries and various coastal ships. Brian is primarily concerned with cargo claims.
Amanda joined the Association in February 2000. Prior to this Amanda worked in the claims department at Liverpool & London. She graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Maritime Studies. Amanda is responsible for handling cargo claims.
Stephen has over fifteen years experience in P&I cargo, admiralty and personal injury claims and joined the North of England in July 2005 from the American Club.
Marija joined the Association in October 2004. She has a Law Degree from the University of Zagreb, Croatia and in May 2004 Marija also obtained an LL.M degree from the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta.
Marija is primarily concerned with cargo claims.
Peter obtained a degree in Commerce and Administration and worked in a port agency for nine years. He then switched career to maritime law by gaining an LL.M in Maritime Law from the University of Wales, Cardiff and qualifying as a solicitor with Clyde & Co in 1993. He joined the Association in 1998 after five years experience with Ocean Marine Mutual.
Colin joined the Association in 1995. He is a qualified Master Mariner and spent ten years at sea with P&O as a deck officer principally in the Bulk Shipping Division. On leaving the sea in 1985 he spent a year lecturing in maritime subjects at South Tyneside College before joining Newcastle maritime solicitors Eversheds and subsequently Rayfield Mills, where he specialised in salvage and collision matters.
Robert joined Newcastle P&I in 1987. Previously he spent nine years at sea with BP and Ben Line. He holds a Class 2 Deck Certificate and a BSc in Maritime Studies. Before joining Newcastle P&I he spent three years with another P&I Club and three years with a firm of London solicitors doing mainly collision and salvage work. He deals with admiralty and cargo claims.
Belinda joined the Association in 1990 after studying Economics and Accounting at Newcastle University and more recently obtained a LL.B (Honours) from Northumbria University. Belinda is primarily concerned with Cargo and Personal injury matters.
John joined Newcastle P&I Association in 1986 after graduating with an Honours Degree in Law. He worked in the Claims Department for twelve years, dealing with a wide variety of claims. He is now primarily concerned with cargo and admiralty work.
Henry joined the Association in 2000 from Liverpool & London P&I. Previously he served with the Corporation of Lloyd's where he was responsible for cargo claims. He had a number of years prior P&I claims experience with Steamship Mutual, having previously worked in the bills department of Hambros Bank Ltd.
