The Right Crew - Seagull Maritime's Crew Evaluation Service and Benchmarking

07/07/2017 | North

CIRCULAR REF: 2017/015

CIRCULATED TO ALL MEMBERS, BROKERS AND DIRECTORS

In April 2017, North launched its partnership with Seagull Maritime AS and encouraged members to consider its Crew Evaluation System (CES) and associated benchmarking service. The partnership is part of North’s wider campaign on supporting Members in their aim to attract, recruit and retain the ‘right crew’ for their ships. Click here for more information.

Seagull Maritime AS has since made a number of updates to its system including new STCW and detailed tests for Pure Car Carriers in addition to STCW tests for offshore vessels.  Furthermore, 9 question groups for Pure Car Carriers with a total of almost 450 questions have been developed.  More than that, a total of almost 1900 questions have been completely revised since 2015, making sure almost 40% of the questions now are revised to reflect new amendments to STCW.

Our Members will have access to an exclusive 12-month discount on the evaluation and benchmarking service. CES plus benchmarking usually costs US$4000 per year per installation (unlimited use per installation) but North’s Members will benefit from a 25% reduction in fees for the first year.

Assessing seafarer knowledge is an important tool to highlight knowledge gaps, improve training and reduce exposure to claims. The benchmarking tool allows performance of crew, and crew providers to be tracked and monitored over time.
