Community & Charity – North 150 Fund

Giving back to the community in which we live and work is so important to us and over the past six years we have donated nearly £800,000 to over 100 organisations and taken part in various regional initiatives. Community giving is only possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of our staff and Board Directors who generously keep our North 150 Fund topped up.

We appreciate the time and effort put into fundraising and community involvement by our staff so every year our staff have the opportunity to nominate their own charitable organisations for a donation from the North 150 Fund. In 2016, we donated £70,000 to 30 staff nominated organisations.

Our employees are encouraged to take one day a year to get involved with our community activities, which have ranged from helping the Ocean Youth Trust to prepare their sail training vessel for the summer season to gardening and general maintenance at Percy Hedley School in Forest Hall.

If you need any volunteers or would like our assistance for a day, please contact the CSR Committee at:

  • Society SmallSailor’s Society Asian Challenge

In April 2017, Team North in Singapore will be taking part in the Sailors’ Society Asian Challenge – climbing Mount Fansipan in Vietnam, the highest mountain in Indochina! At 3,143 metres, it is the last major peak on the eastern end of the Himalayan range. Over two days, James Moran, Andy Desai and George Cuthbert will trek across a variety of landscapes and through 15km of ascents and descents over various peaks before arriving at the summit. If you would like to make a donation, please visit: Mount Fansipan Fundraising

In 2017, Team North will be defending their title as they take on the maritime community once again at the annual OSCAR Dragon Boat Race in London to remain champions! Through the OSCAR Campaign, the shipping industry has a unique opportunity to save lives and to create a shared legacy by delivering tangible support to help advance pioneering medical treatment for children around the world.
