We are currently looking to recruit a permanent full time Executive to join our group risk and compliance team based at our head office in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The team is responsible for ensuring that we properly understand the nature and value of the risks North Group faces and ensure that we meet the regulatory obligations that we are subject to as a result of operating in the financial services sector. North Group is also subject to other legal and regulatory requirements (such as those relating to data protection, health and safety and corporate governance) and the risk and compliance team works with other departments within the organisation to assist the group in meeting these requirements.
The Role – Compliance Executive
The role is to support the risk and compliance team in ensuring North Group meets its existing and future global regulatory obligations by:-
- reviewing and analysing current and proposed regulatory requirements;
- making sure relevant departments and individuals within the business are aware of them;
- making sure that the group operates in a way which complies with these requirements.
The role will report in to the Head of Compliance and attracts a variety of work, examples of which might include summarising regulatory requirements (many of which may be complex) in an accessible way for business colleagues or Directors, being involved in corporate projects and business initiatives from a compliance perspective, training staff in compliance requirements, reviewing group processes, systems and controls against regulatory requirements to ensure all obligations are met, communicating with regulators, or assisting with drafting board reports to provide an update on compliance matters.
The successful candidate may be a qualified solicitor, a compliance professional or someone from another relevant background who is looking to move into a role in our industry. We consider that qualification to degree level at least in any discipline is essential. Any individual who has the ability to analyse and communicate complex regulatory information in an accessible, approachable way and efficiently manage a busy and varied workload is encouraged to apply.
Some experience of working for or advising financial services organisations is desirable but an enthusiastic approach and genuine interest in understanding and taking into account North Group’s regulatory and commercial objectives is more important.
The Role – What’s On Offer and Recruitment Information
An excellent remuneration package is offered, including competitive salary, pension and other attractive benefits.
