North is proud this year to celebrate its 150th anniversary. Since its inception in 1860, North has evolved to meet the demands of the shipping industry and is now one of the world’s leading P&I clubs.
The North East of England has a rich maritime history, and North has been an ever present part of this, from the creation of the first indemnity association and the first war risks association, to establishing a pioneering loss prevention and risk management department and providing in house FD&D, North has always taken an innovative approach working closely with Members to offer the best possible service.
The growth of North’s Membership over the years, from local ship owners based on the river Tyne to an international Membership based all over the world, is testament to the quality service offered by North’s committed team of professional staff.
As North reflects this year on its remarkable history, it also looks forward to a bright and successful future working with its Members in the years to come.
